This course introduces the principles of static equilibrium and their applications in two and three-dimensional engineering systems. Topics covered include vector analysis, free-body diagrams, particle and rigid body equilibrium, and the structural analysis of frames and machines. Fundamental topics related to the elastic behavior of engineering materials under axial loading are introduced. Students may not receive credit towards graduation for both BE122 and any of EM 120 or EM 121.
