Employers Come to You

Hundreds of companies flock to our three Career Fairs each year looking for candidates for internships, co-ops, and full-time employment. Big names such as Microsoft, Google, General Electric, Collins Aerospace, Rolls-Royce, Genesys, Roche Diagnostics, and Texas Instruments recruit here because they know our students are among the best in the world.

As a freshman, you’ll have a chance to connect with Career Fair recruiters within just a few short weeks of arriving on campus. If that seems daunting, don’t worry—the Office of Career Services is here to help you put your best foot forward. Learn more about what we offer below.

Internships & co-ops

We don’t require you to complete an internship or co-op experience—but we certainly do recommend it. Not only does the experience allow you to apply your classroom knowledge to real projects, it also gives you a leg up on the competition when you seek your first job upon graduation.

What's the difference between an internship and a co-op experience? An internship happens during your summer break, while a co-op experience occurs during the academic year. Most people who participate in a co-op take a break from the classroom so they can work full-time.

You do not receive academic credit for an internship or co-op job, but employers do pay you well.

Interview Prep

How do you best communicate your knowledge, experience and skills to a prospective employer during a job interview? What will they ask you? What should you ask them? And what should you wear to your interview? We can answer all of those questions, provide tips to help you highlight your strengths, arrange a practice interview with a peer advisor, and more.

Resume Help

Your resume and cover letter are your opportunity to not only detail your classroom accomplishments but also everything else that makes you a well-rounded team player. We provide example resumes so you’ll know how to do it right, and we’ll review your resume to help you refine it.

Networking

Networking with alumni in your chosen field, with potential employers, with business and government leaders in your hometown or others can be a powerful tool for opening up employment opportunities. We’ll show you how to start making those connections.

Handling Offers

With Rose-Hulman’s 98 percent placement rate, you’re nearly certain to get at least one job offer. You know you shouldn't drop the phone and start screaming in excitement when you get the call, right? So, how should you accept an offer? And how do you decline the others? We can help you sort it all out.

International Student Assistance

We know international students have special concerns when it comes to employment opportunities in the United States. Our office can help you understand employment laws, give you tips for improving your communication skills and help you prepare for interviews.
