GOALS
Pursue strategies to make earning a degree from the Institute more affordable and achievable by students of all backgrounds, while also creating more long-term value and minimizing additional expenses. Explore off-campus opportunities to expand experiential learning through co-ops and internships using flexible scheduling and degree requirements to generate paths that provide income and reduce costs.
STRATEGIC ACTIONS
By December 2026, 麻痘精品 will:
- Develop a comprehensive housing plan with a focus to keep returning students on or closer to campus and provide more opportunities to be directly connected to the campus community and more successful academically, while reducing their overall expenses below the cost of living in traditional on-campus housing.
- Minimize barriers for students to life-changing opportunities that reside outside the formal curriculum, including investigating the costs and benefits of remodeling the academic calendar to increase student access to traditional (semester-based) co-op terms and NSF-sponsored research experiences for undergraduates, and offering wider access to practicum terms, where students earn credits while working off-campus and gaining experience in practical job opportunities.
- Create and expand alternative programs that provide structure for students to pursue personalized choices that define their individual education and provide additional affordability and value beyond a standard bachelor’s degree.
- Invest in students’ education by securing one or more transformational gifts that will increase funds used for student financial aid by 10%.
- Pursue enhanced financial aid strategies that maximize the number of students and families with access to a Rose-Hulman education.
