What is IP/ROP?

Join a faculty mentor as you tackle special projects outside the required curriculum.

You'll see the connections between all those courses and labs, learn to tackle tough problems with confidence, communicate your results professionally, and be better prepared for whatever future you choose.

You’ll be able to apply for funding for supplies and consumables for your project and compete for Best Student Project Travel Awards.

Along the way, you’ll have a chance to present your work at the End-of-Quarter Symposium, explore career paths and meet others engaged in independent projects. Current students can learn more about these opportunities below.

What is IRC?

The Interdisciplinary Research Collaborative will give you opportunities to enhance your education through research experiences and ancillary activities.

In our 10-week Summer Research Experience you’ll build interdisciplinary research, teamwork and communication skills to prepare you for graduate studies.

You’ll collaborate with other students to investigate cutting-edge research, prepare brief presentations for IRC meetings, document your research progress and present the results of your efforts at the Annual IRC Rose-Hulman Undergraduate Research Symposium (RSURP).

More About the IRC Symposium

Each year, we host the Wabash Valley Local Section American Chemical Society Undergraduate Research Conference and IRC Undergraduate Student Research Symposium.

The meeting is designed as a forum for undergraduate students who have performed research to share the results of their work with fellow students and faculty from other Midwestern universities with both oral talks and poster presentations. Awards are given for the best presentations.
