As vice president for student affairs and dean of students, Erik Hayes oversees all aspects of student life including housing, dining services, the student union, athletics, performing arts, sports and recreation, career services, public safety, and health and counseling services.
Hayes is a Rose-Hulman alumnus who earned a bachelor’s degree (1997) and master’s degree (2001) in mechanical engineering from the institute. He previously served as associate dean of student affairs, and has been a staff member in the Office of Student Affairs for 15 years.
He has been a staff representative to Rose-Hulman’s Board of Trustees, a freshman class advisor, and currently serves as the institute’s Title IX coordinator. He has organized events for the Parents’Association and helped form the Young Alumni Council.
Hayes has been the recipient several awards, including the President’s Outstanding Service Award in 2007, the Alumni Association’s Distinguished Young Alumni Award in 2004, and Office of Student Affairs’Jess Lucas Alumni Leadership Award in 2014.
