Dr. James Mayhew specializes in heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, aerospace engineering, uncertainty analysis and instrumentation. He spent more than a decade working for the U.S. Air Force in research, development and logistics on aircraft, engines and missiles. Dr. Mayhew is a recipient of the Dean͛s Outstanding Teacher Award, and spent his most recent sabbatical in India, serving as an educational consultant to universities seeking an exchange of best practices with American teachers. He showcases his skills as a musician on Rose-Hulman͛s Strings Orchestra, and regularly joins students in performing in the institute͛s annual Engineers in Concert.
