Hannah Snider

Meet Hannah

A chemical engineering major from Plainfield, Indiana who loves tennis, running with her dog, and studying chemistry for fun.

What do you most expect to gain from being part of our scholars program?

I hope to attain additional skills in leadership and communication in STEM. Even throughout the initial scholarship process, I was able to work on important skills that will help me excel as an engineer in college and the workplace. Additionally, I strive to gain a closer connection to my classmates. This program has already connected me with some amazing people and I can't wait to know more as I continue my education at Rose-Hulman.

How do you spend your free time?

When I am not studying, I love to play tennis, bicycle and run with my dog. I am extremely excited to continue playing tennis at Rose-Hulman and plan to bike and run the many trails that surround the campus. In addition to recreational activities, I also enjoy serving throughout my community. As a freshman on campus, I look forward to continuing to lead and volunteer throughout college.

What is the nerdiest thing you do?

I would have to say that the nerdiest things that I do include studying chemistry for fun, lots of reading, and excessively listening to podcasts. Chemistry is such a fascinating subject to me because it is incredible to learn about the individual atoms and compounds that make up our entire world. My favorite types of books are usually fantasy and science fiction. Podcasts are great because there are so many subjects to explore.

How do you hope to change the world with the knowledge you鈥檒l gain at Rose-Hulman?

Rose-Hulman has the number one undergraduate chemical engineering program in the country and I am excited to work towards becoming the best engineer I can be. As one of the 23.5 million Americans who are afflicted with an autoimmune disease, I am driven to expand my knowledge in order to develop new medications and processes to treat currently incurable diseases. I hope to use my Rose-Hulman engineering degree to improve the lives of others worldwide through life-changing pharmaceuticals. Valuable skills such as leadership, communication, and community outreach, all of which are emphasized at Rose-Hulman, will be an asset as an engineer.

How did you know Rose was right for you?

After first stepping onto the Rose-Hulman campus and hearing about its amazing teachers, extensive internship and research opportunities, and prestige in the engineering world, I knew that Rose was the right college for me. Both students and staff at Rose-Hulman are extremely kind and helpful, adding to the campus experience. It is hard to find a school where every person is deeply driven by a desire to innovate and change the world for the better.
