As of October 1st, 2023, all outside scholarship funds received from companies & organizations outside of Rose-Hulman will be split evenly between the fall, winter, and spring terms, unless the organization awarding the scholarship specifies in writing that the funds must be applied to a specific term. This policy has been created in response to Federal guidelines. To maintain continuity of processing, this policy applies to all students, not just those receiving Federal Student Aid.
BE PREPARED AND START YOUR SEARCH EARLY!
You should check all avenues early in your senior year, so you don't miss out on any opportunities! Many scholarships require letters of reference from teachers, counselors, work supervisors or community professionals. You'll want to give your references ample time to craft a carefully written letter commending your good points.
WHERE TO LOOK
Does your hometown have a community foundation? Do you or your parents belong to organizations that grant scholarships? Or does their workplace have a foundation? Of course, high school guidance counselors should also have a list of scholarships you could apply for. It is helpful to cast a wide-net and do not limit yourself to one resource or avenue.
