Academic Advising

During your time at Rose-Hulman, you will work closely with your academic advisor to establish your educational goals and select your educational experiences. Your first meeting will be a group advising meeting during orientation, where you will get to meet your academic advisor, review your fall class schedule (which will be created for you mid-August), and discuss other registration and academic topics. Every quarter, thereafter, you will meet individually with your advisor to review your goals and current progress, and create your course schedule for the next term.

ID Cards

Your Rose-Hulman student ID gets you discounts around town, free admission to Rose-Hulman athletic events, discounts at Hatfield Hall, meals in the dining hall and more. It also is your way of showing the world you're a student at one of the greatest colleges in the country! You will get your student ID during New Student Orientation.

Lost your ID? Never fear. You may obtain a replacement ID for $10 in the Student Affairs Office on the lower level of the Hulman Union. Just stop by during our offices hours, Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Laptop

Incoming students are required to purchase an institute-selected laptop directly from Rose-Hulman. We do this to ensure your hardware and software needs are covered so you can focus on the important stuff.

Insurance

All students who do not have health coverage must purchase accident and health insurance coverage, and it will be included in the first billing statement of an academic year. If you are covered by your parents' or your own policy, you may waive the student health insurance prior to the start of each quarter.

Cars/Parking/Transportation

Unlike many larger schools, we allow you to bring a car as a freshman. Just register your car during New Student Orientation (it's free), and you’re good to go! But even if you don’t bring a car to campus, no worries! You'll be able to find someone who can give you a ride to the mall, grocery store, bowling alley, restaurant, movie theater or anywhere else you need to go. And if you can't find a ride, ask your Resident Assistant for assistance!

Getting Here and Back

The Indianapolis International Airport is just under an hour away, so you will need to have a ride from the airport to campus. If you find you are unable to arrange pick-up at Indianapolis, a representative from Rose-Hulman can pick you up for your initial arrival in the fall. After that, it will be your responsibility to arrange transportation through the shuttle service provided through the Student Affairs Office, with a friend, or another shuttle service.
